Producer Francisco Serracin, Don Pachi himself, is one of the few leading growers of the Geisha coffee varietal. This varietal is thought to have originated in the Ethiopian village of Gesha and made its way to Costa Rica and from there to Boquete, Panama. It is there that the full potential of this different coffee seed found its true home and a small group of growers who had the passion to bring out its superb qualities.
Don Pachi's coffee has a worldwide reputation and is also lovely collaboration between father and son. Don Pachi the elder brings lifelong skills to the growing of the highest quality coffee, having turned it from a commodity to an artisinal practice. Francisco, the son and a mature man in his own right, brings extreme attention to detail and a link to to the modern world. This coffee has a devoted following all over the world and especially throughout Asia. By special arrangement while in Boquete during the spring, we were able to secure just a tiny amount of this coffee directly from Francisco Serracin and have the pleasure of offering it to our own valued customers at this wonderful time of year. Once roasted there will be slightly more then 40 roasted pounds. A rare find indeed.
Cup Characteristics: Don Pachi a very delicate cup with sweet lemon fruit. Especially clean and crisp with Meyer lemon and jasmine flavors, it is also lightly floral. The body presents a smooth, semi-sweet chocolate. Overall, this is a very elegant, well balanced coffee with a long, complex finish replete lots of nuances. While expensive, it represents a good value for a top Geisha from this highly acclaimed origin.
Note: This is a 12 ounce package.
This coffee sold whole bean only.
