Geisha Deluxe Triple Sampler

Today only - $20 off overnight UPS shipping.

The ultimate in coffee luxury. Eight ounces each of three incredible Geisha varietal coffees. They are all from Panama, where this exotic varietal has found a home, nurturing micro climates and dedicated growers. These expensive coffees are extroadinarily scarce, with only hundreds of pounds or less per lot produced. Each is freshly roasted to order, packaged in foil valve bags and presented in a thoughtfully prepared gift box with factsheets about each coffee.

For those unfamiliar with the Geisha varietal, it a seed type that is thought to have originated in Ethiopia. Price Peterson who owns Hacienda Esmeralda in Panama, experimented by planting it some years ago along with a broader group of varietals. The result was the re-discovery of a great cultivar with extreme fruitiness and floral scents and flavors, but with great balance and finesse. The Geisha has become a superstar in the coffee world, breaking auction record after record. Hacienda Esmeralda, the most famous and awarded of the Geisha growers, has garnered stunning prices for their coffees and now holds an annual private auction at which we are a buyer. We purchased what we felt to be their top lot, the highest grown coffee on their farm - Montaña. We have it along with two masterful others, combining for a gift like no other for a coffee aficinado in your life, or, for yourself.

We can supply your gift list of one or many.

  • Panama Geisha Aristar Finca La Valentina - 1st place winner of the 2011 Best of Panama Competition. -This stunning example of Geisha coffee is grown by brothers Benjamin and Efraín Osorio on their farm in the Horqueta area of Boquete Panama, at 1600 meters elevation. Only 300 pounds of this coffee was available at auction where it sold for $70.25 per pound unroasted and that lot went to a buyer in Japan; we were able to procure a tiny additional amount through friends outside of the auction channel. Winning score was 92.3 points. Intensely floral fragrance, like honeysuckle. Tropical fruit flavors, mandarin orange, mango; lots of jasmine and bergamot. Nuances of lemon, cinnamon. A great Geisha with refinement and power.
  • Panama Hacienda Esmeralda Montaña Microlot - A simply awesome cup from the highest grown (elevation is 1700 to 1800 meters) and newest lot on the Peterson's famous coffee farm. Only 600 pounds of this coffee was available for purchase and we have but a small amount of it. The Montaña lot was the most expensive one auctioned; we felt it offered the best example of Esmeralda this year. A balanced and sweet cup, notes of jasmine, mandarin oranges, chocolate, blackberry jam, sugar cane. Shows chocolate and lemon along with blackberry and apricot. Brisk, citric acidity. Jasmine and heady scents abound. A bouquet that presents itself immediately in ground, then enlivened during brewing. The coffee has both power and delicacy.
  • Panama Don Pachi Washed Geisha - Producer Francisco Serracin. In this year's Best of Panama there was first ever competition of natural process Panama coffees. That process dries the cherry whole before milling. Several of the entrants were Geisha varietals, The hands down winner was Francisco Serracin's Don Pachi Geisha. There was just a tiny amount of that coffee available and it sold for $111.50 per pound. By special arrangement we were able to secure 50 of the same coffee but in a washed process, meaning more refined and less earthy, but the same varietal and growing conditions. A rare find.

These coffees are sold separately. Buy them as this deluxe sampler, save about $10 and also get free shipping via UPS ground in the US.
