Panama Kotowa Geisha Washed: The Kotowa farm, in its third generation, has several outstanding plots of land; this particular lot is from a portion of the farm called Las Brujas. We have had the pleasure of visiting Kotowa's farms, their old wetmill and their wonderful home, overlooking the beautiful Boquete mountainside and the Baru Volcano. The Brujas plot is located at an elevation of 1800 meters. This coffee is a washed process.

Cup Characteristics: Floral notes and Geisha character comes through right at the outset. Orange zest, delicate spice, black tea and chamomile with hints of lemongrass on the finish.

Panama Kotowa Geisha Natural: The Kotowa farm, in its third generation, has several outstanding plots of land; this particular lot is from a portion of the farm called Las Brujas. We have had the pleasure of visiting Kotowa's farms, their old wetmill and their wonderful home, overlooking the beautiful Boquete mountainside and the Baru Volcano. The Brujas plot is located at an elevation of 1800 meters. This coffee is a natural process.

Cup Characteristics: The Geisha varietal gives way to a floral, jasmine aroma with flavors of tropical fruit and lime notes. Very elegant lime and mandarin acidity and sweetness with hints of melon and passion fruit and a ripe red fruit aftertaste.

Panama Altieri Geisha Washed: The farm is owned and managed by Gene Altieri, a native New Yorker who has lived and worked in Panama for the past 40 years. While Gene has his hands in a number of businesses, he has struck success with his two coffee farms, earning him placement in past competitions along with the past few years Best of Panama competition. Gene Altieri has two farms in the Boquete region, one at a slightly lower altitude of 1350 meters above sea level and a higher elevation farm at 2000 meters where this lot of geisha coffee comes from.

Cup Characteristics: Lime zest, candied lemon, passionfruit. Red wine, pomegranate acidity. Jasmine, coffee blossom. Orange zest, super velvety, fruity, bright green apple, dried apricoty, long, winey finish.

Panama Auromar Geisha Natural: Auromar Geisha from the farm of Roberto Brenes. This is a stunning example of the Geisha varietal from a relative newcomer to already highly sophisticated coffee farming community of the Panama highlands. Roberto Brenes is a really interesting person with interests well outside that of coffee farming. Farming coffee is what he plans to do through his retirement years and the land has been in his wife's family for generations. This farm sits at an elevation of 1600 meters.

Cup Characteristics: Very fruity and sweetly floral. Big, layered flavors of jasmine and hibiscus. Natural processing was very well done, making for fruit penetration that was pronounced but not overwhelming. The result is a balanced, elegant, powerful and delicate all at once. A real achievement and one of the best we have cupped this year.
