This coffee just arrived at our warehouse at the end of August 2024 in lined bags.
Finca Nuevo Horizonte is located in Santa María, Huila, Colombia and is managed by Elmer Sarmiento, a 44-year-old third generation coffee grower. The farm spans 2.5 hectares at an elevation of 2,000 meters above sea level. With over 7,000 coffee trees, Elmer is best known for the exceptional Pink Bourbon that he cultivates, but he also grows Colombia and Caturra varieties and is now beginning to plant some Chiroso trees.
Elmer’s processing method is straightforward. After harvesting, the cherries are left in bags for 24 hours before being depulped - the removal of its outer skin. The mucilage encased beans are then placed in sealed plastic barrels for up to 80 hours, where they are left to rest while being submerged in water. That acts to remove some mucilage. Finally, after rinsing, the coffee is dried on raised beds for 15 to 18 days, depending on the weather.

The quality of Nuevo Horizonte has consistently met high standards, and it continues to expand through the producer's toil. We attempted to purchase this coffee last season, but its small quantity was sold quickly. This year we were only able to purchase two bags and are pleased to offer them at this time. We hope you enjoy this value selection.
